World Cup 2018

Spain reached the knock-out stage after finishing top of their group, but they were elminated by hosts Russia following a penalty shoot-out in the round of sixteen. (01.07.18)

Spain qualified for the finals again, where they have been drawn in Group B together with Portugal, Iran and Morocco. (06.12.17)

After Spain’s brilliant World Cup win in South Africa in 2010, it was back to Earth in 2014, where Del Bosque’s side were knocked out at the group stage in Brazil. All of that is now behind them though, and the draw has already been made for the next edition, which will be taking place in Russia. Spain have been paired with previous World Cup winners Italy in Group G, together with Albania, Israel, Macedonia and Liechtenstein. Only the group winners will qualify automatically for the finals, with the eight best second-placed sides (out of nine groups) playing off for the four remaining places. (31.08.15)
