Spain made it two wins from two in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after beating Belarus 0-4 on Friday evening. For the first time in many years the game was not televised in the country as none of the Spanish channels were prepared to pay the exorbitant price asked for by the German TV company who held the broadcasting rights, but otherwise it was business as usual as Del Bosque's side ran rings around their opponents. Once again the coach put out a line-up without a recognised centre forward, but "false 9" Fàbregas had a shot deflected on to the post in the first minute, and David Silva got through on goal a couple of minutes later only to shoot wide. Not long afterwards however Spain went ahead, Pedro playing Xavi's pass in to the path of Jordi Alba for him to round Veremko and score, and with twenty minute on the clock Pedro made it two after collecting a pin-point pass from Silva. Alba was possibly in on offside position when he scored, but Silva wasn't when he was pulled up twice in succession by a shaky referee, and after the restart Veremko had to keep out a back header from his own player and a shot from Cazorla as Spain continued to dominate. It was just a matter of time before they scored again, and Pedro duly obliged with two in three minutes to complete the first hat-trick of his career. Villa came on and hit the bar, Pedro somehow putting the rebound wide in front of an open goal, and Cazorla and Villa went close at the end. A good win though and an eighth international clean sheet in a row for Casillas, and they go in to Tuesday's key match against France full of confidence.
