A close thing in the end, but Spain got off to a winning start in the qualifying round for next year’s Euro 2020 Championship. Luis Enrique’s side began well, Rodrigo giving them the lead after Marco Asensio and Jordi Alba combined to set him up on the quarter hour mark, and Morata bringing a couple of good saves out of Jarstein. Alba had a goal ruled out for offside and Iñaki Martínez, Ceballos and Ramos went close, but Elyounoussi missed an easy chance, and midway through the second half Norway equalised, King converting a penalty after Martínez pulled him down in the area. Just six minutes later Ramos chipped in a second penalty after Jarstein clattered into Morata on the edge of the area, but although Asensio in particular wasted a good opportunity to build on the lead, the result was in doubt until the final whistle.
