The second round of the cup took place midweek, with second division A teams joining the lower ranked survivors from the first round. As usual, the draw was split into two halves, with the second division A teams playing against each other. All three of the clubs relegated from the first division this summer, Deportivo, Las Palmas and Málaga, were knocked out though, losing to Zaragoza, Rayo Mahadahonda, and Almería respectively. In the other half of the draw, three regional third division clubs made it through, Lorca FC, Multivera, and Sant Andreu. The third round takes place next month, and Mallorca were the lucky side to get a bye through to the next stage. (13.09.18)
