Goals:
1-0. 115. Pedro. Picked up return pass from Messi and steered shot inside far post.

A single goal from Pedro was enough to give Barcelona their second trophy in a week, and their third ever European Super Cup. Guardiola's side had the better chances against a defensive Shakhtar Donetsk, with Messi and Henry in particular testing Pyatov after the restart. The Catalans also felt themselves unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when a defender blocked Xavi's free kick with his arm.

With Chygrynskiy playing his last game for the Ukrainian side before moving to the Nou Camp, Shakhtar held on to take the game in to extra time. And they could have scored themselves as Barça tired, Valdés having to be on his toes to keep out Aghahowa and an excellent Puyol clearing a couple of dangerous attacks.

As the clock wore on the penalty shoot-out loomed, but Pedro thought otherwise. Cutting in from the left wing he worked an agile one-two with Messi, and then drilled a shot wide of the keeper in to the far corner of the net. A fifth title of the year for Barcelona, and they only now need the world Club Championship in December to complete the set.
