Spain made it twenty-nine games without defeat after beating England 2-0 in a friendly international in Sevilla. The last time "la selcción" lost was back in November 2006, and Del Bosque himself has now won seven games in a row since taking over from Luis Aragonés.

Capello's side started well, with Agbonlahor shooting wide early on. But shortly before half time David Villa opened the scoring after picking up a pass from Xabi Alonso and turning past Jagielka before beating James.

Xabi Alonso fired a long shot wide and Sergio Ramos tested James before the break, and Fernando Torres just failed to control the ball when presented with another chance after the restart.

Both teams had made the usual round of substitutions, with Beckham coming on at the break to equal Bobby Moore's record of 108 caps, and Wright-Phillips and Crouch both tested replacement keeper Reina early in the second half.

With eight minutes to go though Fernando Llorente made it two with a header from Xavi's free kick near the end, his first goal for his country. The visitors almost got one back in the last minute, Marchena clearing off the line from Carlton Cole with Reina beaten, but by then everybody was thinking about going home.
