Spain beat Egypt 2-0 in
their second warm up game for the World Cup. Luis Aragonés drafted
Raúl in to another aggressive starting line up, and with just under a
quarter of an hour on the clock the Real Madrid captain came up trumps when he
shot wide of Hadari after the keeper could only push out a long shot from
Antonio López. Prior to that David Villa had had a couple of efforts
saved by the keeper and Pablo had had a header from a corner cleared off the
line, and Spain continued to dominate up to the break, with Hadari having
problems to keep out a long shot from Cesc and villa firing another effort just
wide.
The coach made three changes
at the break, and one of the half time substitutes Reyes added a second with a
well struck free kick. Luis García came on for Raúl and almost
immediately brought a good save out of the keeper, and Fernando Torres headed
the resulting corner into Hidari's hands. Up to this point the African
champions had hardly troubled Casillas, and even when the keeper presented
Terika with a gift they were unable to score. Casillas was at last called upon
to keep out a header from Ali following Hassan's free kick, but Luis
García could have extended the lead after Iniesta put him through late
on. A good result though, and another boost of confidence for the
"selección" just a few days before it all begins. |
