Iñaki Saéz
started his new reign as manager of the Spanish national side with a 1-1 draw
in the friendly game against Hungary. Saéz showed that he was prepared
to ring the changes, lining up with four new caps in his initial formation,
with defenders García Calvo, Marchena and Raúl Bravo and
midfielder Orbaiz all making their debuts.
A fifth new cap Juanito
replaced Marchena at the break, one of seven substitutions as the manager gave
a run out to all his squad in preparation for the Euro 2004 qualifier against
Greece in September. Spain took the lead early in the second half when Tamudo
headed Joaquín's cross past Kiraly. However Miriuta levelled the scores
later in the half beating Ricardo with a shot from outside of the area.
